enchanter: Tenpou/Kenren (10k FTW)
Title: Down That Road
Author: Rhea [personal profile] enchanter
Warnings: None
Rating: PG-13
Wordcount: 3,500, one-shot, complete
Pairing: Kenren/Tenpou
Summary: This thing between them is a mutual agreement. The kind that knows what it is, that knows what it means without needing to be explained; the kind that tries not to make anything harder than it needs to be. A snapshot of Kenren and Tenpou's rather unauthorized foray into the human world for post-battle wind-down.

Notes: A little fic to start off 2014 on a Saiyuki note. Happy New Year, everyone!

Saiyuki in all of its incarnations belongs to Kazuya Minekura the genius, and I'm just playing with her creations, hoping I won't get shot. Thank you for reading!

Link: The guards stepped aside to make way for them, scurrying like frightened rats, and maybe it was justified because Tenpou breezed past them through the Dimension Gate like a hunting shark cheated out of dinner.

Title: Dreams You Can't Recall
Author: Rhea [personal profile] enchanter
Warnings: Not worksafe - smut, serious injuries, offscreen death
Rating: R
Wordcount: 10,500, one-shot, complete
Pairing: Tenpou/Kenren
Summary: Kenren's knack for attracting all kinds of attention is both an excellent smoke screen and a source of Tenpou's amusement--until the day it inadvertently backfires on him and the entire unit.

Notes: Smut. Blood. Hints of plot. The art of letting go. Sort of in that order. Set before Nataku's appointment as the Toushin Taishi. Pre-read by Shan. Saiyuki belongs to Kazuya Minekura, and I'm just playing with the people she created. ;)

Link: Sometimes, Tenpou thinks he has some notion of what's coming.

Title: Calculated Risk
Author: Rhea
Warnings: Worksafe
Rating: PG-13
Wordcount: 3100, one-shot, complete
Pairing: Gojyo/Hakkai
Summary: [Pre-journey] The armageddon in Shangri-La starts with a bang: Hakkai makes a mess and Gojyo loses at cards. The Minus Wave is coming, and why does it smell like dead youkai here?

Notes: Rated for creepy!Hakkai, general theme and possibly disturbing imagery. Slight liberties with timeline/seasons.

Three lousy hands in a row. He should have folded the last one.

I wonder if anyone would still be up for that, but... I need a pair of eyes on a Saiyuki fic. Gojyo/Hakkai, 3,000 words, no smut I'm afraid (not in this one!) but kinda sorta established relationship, pre-journey. Anyone? Old fandom, I know. Couldn't help it; it's pretty much all I have in my head at the moment. :P :)
enchanter: (Coffee)
Out of curiosity, who's still here? Eljay seems mostly dead these days, hm.
enchanter: (Coffee)
...and after gods know how many years, I can't stop reading Saiyuki fic, especially Gaiden fic of which there's plenty and its quality puts my writer self to shame. I might or might not even write one, if I feel brave enough and find some time one of these days. WTF, old flame? I'm enjoying this entirely too much. *snicker*

ACTA in a Nutshell –

What is ACTA?  ACTA is the Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement. A new intellectual property enforcement treaty being negotiated by the United States, the European Community, Switzerland, and Japan, with Australia, the Republic of Korea, New Zealand, Mexico, Jordan, Morocco, Singapore, the United Arab Emirates, and Canada recently announcing that they will join in as well.

Why should you care about ACTA? Initial reports indicate that the treaty will have a very broad scope and will involve new tools targeting “Internet distribution and information technology.”

What is the goal of ACTA? Reportedly the goal is to create new legal standards of intellectual property enforcement, as well as increased international cooperation, an example of which would be an increase in information sharing between signatory countries’ law enforcement agencies.

Essential ACTA Resources

  • Read more about ACTA here: ACTA Fact Sheet
  • Read the authentic version of the ACTA text as of 15 April 2011, as finalized by participating countries here: ACTA Finalized Text
  • Follow the history of the treaty’s formation here: ACTA history

Title: Second Thoughts
Author: Rhea
Genre: Introspective!Damon is a genre of his own :P
Rating: Mostly PG-13, a few odd swear words here and there
Based on: TV series
Characteres: Damon-centric; Damon/Elena
Setting/Spoilers: Early Season 1, info/spoiler regarding the circumstances of Damon's death
Word Count: 2700, one-shot, complete
Warnings: None, really, unless you count Damon entertaining thoughts of the one kind of homicide he actually wouldn't be able to commit :P

Summary: He should know better than to go near anything that makes him -want- to feel, but, here he is. Damon's somewhat futile exercise in lying to himself regarding emotion and, surprise surprise, Elena. Fun times.

Hello, world. :)

Also, wow. Crossposting to another journal. WIN.

Thanks Ria. ♥

ETA: I just read DW's diversity statement, and I must say - aside from the emotional language in which it was written that certainly contributed to my own reaction to it - I really like what it says. I really like the attitude. I was mostly unfazed by LiveJournal's various shortcomings, because I just didn't think jumping on the bandwagon would have done any good, but it stands a fact I don't appreciate the changes it has undergone over the years. I got my LJ account back in 2003, when it was very different. You still needed invite codes, like you do here. It offered fewer options then, but somehow, more freedom.

I wanted to check out DW because I am many things mentioned in their statement, and some other things not mentioned, and most of my friends fall under serveral of the loosely drawn categories as well. I choose not to make most of my quirks public for various reasons, but that doesn't mean I don't appreciate a place which welcomes me with all that I am - at least in theory - all the more.

Errrm, so no, I didn't really just write a Yami ficlet. Nope. This is an illusion - move along, move along.

...okay, I did. Disclaimer: I haven't written Yami since December 2005, I haven't written fic since August 2006, I haven't written much of anything since February. >.> Therefore, you'll have to forgive me this. :P Got a once-over, unbetaed, written for Amanda. Because she asked, because I love her, and because it was easier than Good Omens, which I would have butchered. ♥ And no, it's not a Tatari. Gasp.

F!list has been trimmed. I removed some journals which haven't been updated in a long time, and a few of those with whom I've never (or rarely, and ages ago) exchanged comments either in my journal, or in theirs.

If I cut because my f!page was made unreadable, I'll friend back, obviously, once it's no longer the case. ♥

Standard note: Not personal. Practical. Comment elsewhere/email with eventual complaints.

All right. Strike me if you will - pun very much intended - but personally, I think the recent Livejournal strikeout drama is stupid on more levels than I care to list at 7:12 in the morning.

Okay, so some - a lot - of people are paying for the service. So am I. In fact I own two paid journals, and I intend to keep paying for them. I agree that eljay shouldn't ever go after its bloggers simply because of whatever interests they have listed in their profile. That's the easy way, and in this case, utterly lame. Fine. I agree that pedophilia is a nasty variety of evil and should be, as it rightfully is, against the law and therefore persecuted. I also agree that there's a difference between dabbling in gray areas such as this writing-wise and otherwise, aka "murder mystery writers are not themselves murderers!1!" - fine.

I agree that fandom itself shouldn't suffer because of this. Although if I were to be completely honest, I wouldn't put it past pedophiles to have some sort of interest or other in those fandoms which they would consider attractive from their perspective (that of someone with sexual interest in minors), should they stumble on such. Also, it's true that a person without sufficient training and knowledge might have a hard time deciding whether someone's interest in the matter is literary or, well, literal. Personally, I dislike both. Just not my idea of fun or tasteful, but that's just me. I don't hate it, I just rarely read, and never write such pairings if they crop up in a fandom I follow. (Soubi/Ritsuka, to some extent Tsuzuki/Hisoka, etc.)

Now, I think it's generally wrong to target fandom. Eljay should make decisions whether to delete/suspend accounts on a case by case basis. I also don't think there IS a way to get rid of pedophilia on the internet - come ON. This is *internet*. Top it all with the fact that I think pretty much all parties involved in this current drama are acting like they left their brains in another room before they turned on their computers.

But you know what? Regardless of how much eljay benefits from paid accounts (incorrectly listed as 'plus accounts' in some of the reports I've seen online dealing with eljay and its alleged condoning of pedophilia), it's their serves this is happening on. If they are targeted, they will defend themselves to get out of the spotlight. It's their asses that will be sued if some overzealous creep decides everything that so much as mentions 'child' is connected with pedophilia. It doesn't make them right, but it does give them the right to act on the very ToS each and every user agreed to upon creating their account.

Sorry, Winnetou.

ETA: From an article here:

Berkowitz said the company would "obviously apologize" to anyone whose journal was deleted in error but added: "That's going to be a very small minority of the sites. I would be shocked if it's more than a dozen."

So no, I wouldn't be happy if someone deleted my journal for no valid reason. But most people who right now are screaming the loudest about "OMG I'M MOVING TO ANOTHER BLOGGING SITE" aren't, haven't been, and probably wouldn't ever be affected. But most of all, whatever blog site you're on, there's always the possibility that someone will target it, and whoever runs it will have a choice between letting their users do whatever they please, and facing a lawsuit, a shutdown of their servers, or both - or worse. Considering the way these things go now, that wouldn't surprise me in the least. And then another site would be evil, and OMG UNFAIR, and-- you get the point.

I wasn't going to comment on this issue, but. I haven't been on livejournal nearly as long as some people have - roughly four years now - but in my time here, I've witnessed the "everyone move elsewhere!" drama more than once already. If you want to go, go. If you want to stay, stay. But is there really any point to it, other than feeling that "you're a part of it"?

The above is my personal opinion and isn't aimed at any particular person on my friends list or outside of it. It is also one of those rare occurences when I make a public post. Feel free to link to it / tell me I'm full of it / whatever, but I'll disallow comments if it stops being civil. ;-)

Side note: layout in progress, don't get scared if you happen to look.
