You should do a couple of friending memes, like I did. There's this one, hosted by a friend of mine (who's Awesome with a capital A), it's not fandom-related, it's just to meet new people on eljay. ^^
I do miss some of the old ones too. Even when I still see them on tumblr, it's not the same: I can't leave comments like here, have nice, organized conversations, everything about that social network negates actual human interaction. Bah. And some people just dropped off the face of the earth. When they stop using their lj nickname, they're gone forever. It's really depressing.
But, on the other end, I'm constantly meeting new people here as well, so there's that. ^^
I actually suck at socializing, both IRL and online. >.< It's true though that some era ended a while back, the way it tends to happen, and maybe I'm just not that fond of the idea of moving on like most others have done. Granted, I'm rarely here these days, but truth is out of my entire friends list it's usually only you and two or three other people still posting. It used to take me hours to catch up with my f!list after a few days of absence, and now hopping on here once a week for a few minutes seems to suffice. :P
Fandom was always a good place to meet people, but right now I never really stop anywhere long enough for that. :P except right now I'm having a fling with Saiyuki, but it really is an exception (as well as a long-dead fandom :D). Social skills... I has them. Not. :D
Yay for meeting new people. Should probably take a leaf out of your book somehow, one of these days. :P
The fun thing is, I'm really good at socializing (I have no problems engaging in conversation with perfect strangers, never had, and I make friends quickly), but I live a sheltered life. I don't go to the pub, or have a job that makes meet new people. Even at the gym it's the same old group since five years ago. Sometimes I miss the ol' school days when I was meeting new people everyday. ^^"
*waves* Still here, though mostly lurking in my jpop comms. I comment and watch doramas, but I'm mostly out of other fandoms. My only creative effort last year (and this year) was/will be "in small packages" (fandom gifts), because it gives me a Christmassy feeling ;) How have you been?
I'm doing good, and I hope you are too. :D I was actually thinking about you recently while packing (I just moved) and sorting the Christmas cards I've been getting from friends for years (I keep all of them foreeever.) Awesome to see you're still around. ♥
I am, but only to check my friendslist in case somebody actually said something. If you want to read my posts, you have to come over to Dreamwidth. (Not that that seems all that alive, but somehow I can't bring myself to the decision to move to tumblr.)
Ah yeah, that's the thing, I find it a bit pointless to move to another platform which is also mostly dead. :P Tumblr didn't grab me. I tried it, but didn't care about it enough to stick around for more than a week. I guess the more "traditional" version of social media appeals to me more.
I didn't even try tumblr. I thought I didn't like the name, glanced at it, wasn't sure what I was looking at, mentioned it to my friends. They said it was no good to post fic on (though none of them had an account either) which is mostly what I intended to do. I decided I don't need another account in a place my friends are not posting. - But I keep hearing it's where fandoms are actually alive and well ...
The fandom incarnations I liked were the ones with fic and endless comment threads and lots of meta discussion all in one place, maybe that's why Tumblr fails completely for me. :D Well, times change, I suppose. ;)
It really is quiet, mostly. Odd that with the current popularity of social media, I don't really feel anything resembling the same sense of community elsewhere, like I did here back when it was full of people I knew. ;) Things change. Good to see you, though, Lexi! :D
